Cultivation of toy terriers in Moscow
To the middle of 80th years in our country there was rather same and
numerous livestock of toy terriers, sleek-haired and long-haired.
These tiny dogs could be met almost in each Moscow court yard. However
changes in a political life of our country, occurred at the end of 80th
years, nearly have not led to to disappearance of toy terriers as breeds.
The reasons of occurrence of a similar situation was a little.
o After disintegration of the USSR in many regions where there was a
numerous livestock of toy terriers, cultivation has been continued detached
from other livestock. Consequence became formation of a plenty of intrapedigree
types and lines which more and more differed from each other on a phenotype,
and association of a genofund of populations in each of regions.
o Opening borders, free departure abroad promoted export of huge quantity
of these small dogs in other countries in quality of "the Russian
exotic".
o Basically toys older persons which by the material opportunities cannot
contain larger dogs get. And these kind and lovely owners, alas, at
all do not want to be engaged in breeding cultivation.
o Probably, these difficulties could be overcome, if breed was conducted
as a unit, but disintegration of section of toy terriers in MGOLS and
formation of a plenty of clubs have led to to crushing of the Moscow
livestock.
Toy terriers - very much not prolific breed and if in cultivation of
other dogs many problems are surmountable for toys they became destructive.
Disagreements in treatment of the standard of breed and questions of
cultivation of toy terriers, too easy opportunity of the organization
all new film-logic societies became the reason of that now toys a plenty
of clubs, as a rule, not contacting among themselves is engaged in cultivation.
In result - big variety in examination, breed loses "person".
Consequence of dissociation in breeding work are the big deviations
from desirable type of the toy terrier determined by the standard of
pedigree{rocky} group. We list the basic:
o An excessive fortress of skeleton or excessive ease and the tiny size:
height in withers less than 18 sm (such dogs are practically unsuitable
for cultivation);
o The lengthened format, short finitenesses;
o A head with insufficiently expressed transition from a forehead to
a muzzle, a flat forehead, it is needless rounding a heavy head;
o The admission in cultivation of individuals with white marks in colour,
that is atypical for toys.
All this has led to to that to the beginning of 90th years breed actually
should be revived, collecting it it is literally on particles and using
in cultivation even dogs with incomplete pedigree.
Today there are some clubs where dogs on type very much close to desirable
are collected, and for conducting serious breeding work there is a sufficient
livestock. Careful selection of pairs and strict selection litters,
spent in these clubs, allow to hope, that in the near future domestic
breed the toy terrier will draw to itself the even greater attention.
In summary it would be desirable to list the best now dogs. Among long-haired
toy terriers it is necessary to note males: Ellin Skazka (ow. Ivanova),
Chip-Chpeis (ow. Tatarintseva), Triumf Shustrik iz Istoka (ow. Terehina)
and females: Yulya (ow. Smails), E-Maika (ow. Il'ina), Lyana Lyalya

Nikol ' (ow. Il'ina), etc. All set forth above dogs have perfectly recommended
themselves at exhibitions and as breeding stud-dogs.
We hope, that soon at large international exhibitions representatives
of the Russian toy terriers will appear and will involve in itself sights
and hearts of many people. In fact the toy terrier is the surprising
essence combining charm and grace with boundless fidelity and boldness,
it is the "sonorous" watchman and a wonderful tiny toy.
